Initially the idea was to create some sort of hero esque person stood either on top or in front of the world. They would be stood in a classic superhero pose to look strong and powerful. The initial idea was inspired by a friend's work from the Illustration course at LAU (seen below). Kyle created a brilliant piece using a digital art style. I wanted to created something similar and just as striking but using a more traditional method of watercolour. This would take me back down my route of traditional and hand rendered techniques.

The idea changed when I recalled the story of Atlas. In Greek mythology Atlas was punished by Zeus to hold up the Heavens. Now although the Heavens don't directly fit into the song I Saved The World Today, Atlas is often depicted holding up the Earth as the story has moved on or changed. This would then be a fitting picture of strength and power for the song and would fit the title.
