The Harry Potter design used Harry's head as a vector and the Golden snitch as the prop on the back to represent the film without giving away the series. The lightening bolt through the triangle (Deathly Hallows Sign) was kept at the top as a subtle hint to fans of the series.
For Back To The Future it was hard to decide between the two designs but it made sense to go with both the main character's heads similar to that of the Star-Wars design. This kept the designs consistant. The Flux capacitor design from the original idea was kept on the top as an extra nod to the film and again fans of the series.
