Blu-Ray Box Design, Ideas - OUGD603

I have a passion for film, tv and pop culture so wanted to create a project based around this. My Blu-Ray collection is quite large but often doesn't look exactly how I might have wanted it to with no collectable additions of anything. When browsing for the complete Star-Wars Saga I noticed that the design of the box put me off from purchasing the set. This spurred me on to design my own box to house the films after I purchased them.

Originally the designs were just to fit onto the Star-Wars packaging it felt like the brief could be pushed further to design for multiple film series. The of films to design for are based on popularity and as this is a self initiated brief, my own preference.

The idea is to create simple vector designs that feature something from the film to take you back into it without overcrowding the box design. Blu-Ray boxes are smaller than the classic DVD size and a lot smaller than poster designs therefore it would make sense to keep the design small as well with negative space for the viewer to be drawn to the design. Making the space feel like it is used to it's full potential and not like it has been cluttered up and oversaturated.

Here is a list of popular films worth designing for:

Star Wars
Back To The Future
Alien
Indiana Jones
Jurassic Park
Lord of the Rings
The Matrix
Toy Story
Die Hard
Harry Potter
The Dark Knight Trilogy
Marvel Film Series (All ten years)
X-Men
Hunger Games
