Type in Context, Content Considerations - OUGD504

After receiving feedback from my presentation and talking to tutors about other considerations I have come up with a few ideas I think could really help my design.

The design must reflect the content and coming up with a question is key to helping the design stay on track and evolve with the content.

How can I show a healthier way to the takeaways rather than just fast food?

Instead of advertising this horrible unhealthy high street and show that this is a 'good' thing to be top of the table in this field. How can I show that it could be beautiful, make the food fronts look more aesthetically pleasing, consider colour theory, type setting, shop design and healthier food options.

Audience -

Takeaways around Prestons / All takeaways.

Price -

If small possibly a council run publication that would not cost the audience anything in an attempt to become a healthier community.

Book styling -

Clean, clear and brief as not to over complicate the idea.

Pros -

Create something that could actually be put into production to change the face of Preston and lose the bad press.

Make the world a bit healthier.

Cons -

Content such as images I have collected may not actually be used as the content would be influenced by research rather than imagery.

Lose a tourist element to the city, and a release for a lot of people, takeaways aren't designed to be healthy they wouldn't want to change as it doesn't fit their clientele. How could I convince them to change their whole image the project may be too big for the time scale.

How can we show an outsider that England isn't beautiful and gourmet? -Taking the piss out of britishness.

Take a Martin Parr approach to the design concept, show off britishness for what it is in the most part not for what we try to show ourselves to outsiders. The design could literally be influenced by a sort of beautiful concept and have a complete contrast within the inside as if I haven't noticed my own sarcasm. Consider, typesetting, info graphics, layout, sizing and stock.

Audience -

Tourists, Prestonians, artists.

Price -

Depending on the binding method and book styling £10 - £20. The production should not be time consuming and shouldn't cost too much.

Book styling -

Clean and clear almost a contrast to the content to emphasise the sarcasm and the comedy factor of the publication.

Pros -

Fun, ideas can grow easily.

The content I have can fit to this style.

The book would be more appealing to a wider audience.

Advertises Preston and England.

Cons -

I would have to consider content carefully for design.

The book may not work in the way I would like.

The content would have to be perfect and the book would have to be created in a way that would really reflect it.
