Creative Networks, Printing - OUGD603
Part of producing the advertising for the events means I also have to print the work in time and to a high standard. Usually work printed for university events are printed on a basic light stock whereas I have opted for heavy scratch-proof satin for the posters and a heavy matt stock for the flyers. It was agreed that the printing was a little more costly but it was worth it for the quality to advertise professionals.
For each event a certain amount of prints were needed:
100 A6 Flyers
10 A3 Posters
5 A1 Posters
This stayed consistent for the first two events making it easier to print each time. As the A1 posters were so big there were no rotary trimmers or guillotines in the college that were able to cut them down so these had to be hand cut using a scalpel and a ruler. The A3 designs could be trimmed using a rotary trimmer and the flyers all had to be printed 8 to a double sided A3 piece and then trimmed down using the electric guillotine. The electric guillotine did save time but was still tricky and time consuming to use.
Overall doing this has helped me stay organised and on time for deadlines it also made sure that I had enough time incase printing or cutting went wrong.
